When discussing the history of installation art, I feel it is essential to mention GRAV. This was a movement that happened in Paris in the early 1960s that incorporated OP-Art and Installation. I also do not know if the work Spiral Jetty is considered installation art or Earth Art. In a way, Earth Art transforms a space but I wouldn't consider public sculpture to be an installation.
When was the first installation work created?
