Chloe krick site specific

these are just some sketches of what i was thinking of for this site.

this idea is string strung across the whole driveways and creating an enclosed space. this one now that i had sketched with it I'm not that into it.

same concept i would love to do this one but with time i dont think that would have the time to create it and install it.

these two last ones are more of what im going for. i like them because of the space and the time it would be plausible. I like the idea of the string wrapped around the trees. i want it really thick that you could walk under it and look up and see the string and the light passing through the sting. you could also see the colored shadows that might be casted with this piece on the white snow under neath.

week 04/09/23

i think im going to go with the idea 2. i think that this is site specific. i had come up with this idea thinking about this place in mind. around here there isn't really places like this that for one still have snow and have these clumps of trees. these images are all in the same place but just around so there's three options. i like the first three ideas to work with because it goes with my idea of doing something in the trees and the trees being almost all that you see around it. i think that i could play a lot with color here. i want to work with paper again and as much as i hate to say it i think playing with sticky notes again would be pretty cool. i could work with the same form that i did for my materialistic or in another one of my classes we have been introduces to the Turkish map fold and i could do a whole bunch of those either with neon sticky notes or brightly colored paper.

for this image i was thinking a little more for idea 3 but on a bigger scale. i think that this would be site specific because i would be working with the trees and if i would move the same materials to another site it would not look the same and be a completely different piece. with the time for the most part i think that this would be the most realistic to work with. i could use a mix of string, yarn, maybe chain of there's any left there or just the materials that i could string between the trees.

these next two pictures also goes along with the idea two there is just a bigger space. for the most part i like it but to go along with time i don't think ill have time to work with the space and to fill it up but in the future i would love to work with is and fill up the whole space, maybe a summer idea.

Idea 1

For this idea I was thinking about doing some type of installation under the stairs at my apartment. I’m on the first floor so right when I walk outside I see the space under the stairs. They are empty and could be a good place to create and change. If I end up going with this first idea I would have to decide if I would want to do one or both of the places under the stairs right outside my front door.

For this one I was thinking I could do something with multiples again. Just like the repeating waves in my small world and the multiple sticky notes I could do something like that again. I was thinking about getting different sized balls and making paper castings of part of them. I would do that over and over again keeping it monochromatic creating enough to fill the space. I want it to fill the fenced in space and it “ climbing” the under part of the stairs.

Idea 2

 I didn’t get a chance to go out there during the weekend but my grandma has a cabin right on the outside of the National forrest. Right before you can see the cabin from the road there are there are so many birch trees. The trees are so dense around the cabin that, that’s all you see pretty much. With the trees being white and there still being snow there I think that I could play a lot with color at this site. I don’t know exactly what I’m wanting to do here but I’m thinking something on the lines of doing multiples.

This is not my picture but I used it to just get a feel of what it would look like.

Idea 3 

I don’t remember who the artist is but it was someone who we had looked and talk about in class but it was someone who worked with string. That’s who i was thinking of when I was looking at this site.

These are posts for hammocks. They take them off of the posts during the winter and just leave the posts in the ground. I would like to use yarn to wrap around all of the posts creating chaos. This one km on the fence with and I would have to talk to my apartment about it. I if I do this one then it would be a one day thing because I don’t think that I would be able to leave it up. Since this is in the middle of  the apartment buildings this would have to be a pre approved idea by the complex.
