Jamie Materialistic Ideas

This is in no way representative of my quilt interpretation, but serves as an example of cyanotypes on fabric

For my Materialist installation, I would like to concentrate on the people that have shaped my life the most. This piece will put into visual context the individuals that have created so many important memories with me and helped write who I am today. My execution will allow me to involve my interests in photography and fiber arts.

For each person I will create a "quilt" of sorts. Using Cyanotype reactive fabric, I will expose photos, text, and object silhouettes that can then be pieces together using a variety of textile techniques. I will also embed 3-D objects into the fabric based compositions. I will tone all the quilts in a similar tone to remain consistent, however I will bring in slight amounts of relevant color to maintain uniqueness and interest in each composition.

I would like the suspend the fabric from different heights on tree branches. This will allow me to transform the space even more, and it will further its relevance to my concept. Tying in natural elements will strengthen the comparison to how much these people have helped me to grow and how many years the relationships have taken to nurture and maintain. My space will be a little forest of monumental individuals and memories.
