I installed projectors with Bethany's help on Sunday afternoon. Still in the process of installing more projects and the materials that will be projected on. A work in progress, but looking forward to where this project is headed.
I had a couple of what should have been anticipated, but unforeseen setbacks. I was missing some very specific mounting screws that I mistakenly didn't account for in weeks prior, so I had a hard time finding at our local hardware stores. With some work arounds, I am finding alternative ways to display these projectors and I think it will be even more interesting than the imagined or usual way of displaying them.

I have been culling through video footage and editing a video sequence for installation this weekend. I am thinking through some ways to make adjustments to my projector mounts to work better for the space.

I am really interested in these image focused installations Sarah Sze creates with simple materials in combination with projectors.

Key concepts
-Parallel Processing visualized with multiple images
-Peripheral Distractions and distortion
-Image Perception
-Lateral inhibition
-Meditative Imagery through Digital Media
-> Why does it seem easier to attend to a video of nature or ephemeral visuals in the form of media than it does to visually experience this in real time reality.
-Multiplicity of images and imagery
-> Employing the use of:
- Digital media
- Mirrors
-Reflective Material
-Mylar
-Privacy mirror

Materialistic Ideation
This is an image from a past work of mine from spring of 2025.
This is a long exposure photo of a digital matrix of images on a monitor.
The long exposure paired with manual zoom create this motion effect.
I included this as a reference for some of the same effects and visuals I want to create in the installation space.
Whose work is this? Yours?

ReplyDeleteAll of these ideas are interesting and hard for me to wrap my head around. (Not a bad thing, I just have zero experience in projections). The sketch I found the most compelling was the shower thoughts one. I so badly want to see what these projections would look like behind shower curtains and what that would do to the idea's context.
I also like the idea of the curved pieces, which seem to lead the viewer through the room and to different projections. I think the reflections and imagery from the projections on the reflective material could be quite interesting.
I apologize that I can't give much advice in the projection and time management portion of your ideas, and hopefully I can hear from you exactly what you are going after with these ideas, so I can fully understand what exactly you are going for.
If you need any help installing, please reach out!
